Chief Chevez has joined the growing number of voices asking for a resolution to the case in El Salvador, where a woman may die because the El Salvadorian government does not allow her treatment, based on religious values that ban the treatment required to save her life. Chief Cheves believes that the current Penal Code is based on Catholic dogma rather than law, and that it violates international conventions signed by El Salvador.
